Prepaid electricity support in South Africa
Umhlakasi Electricity Advance
Need prepaid electricity before your next top-up? Explore an electricity advance through Umhlakasi, powered by BluAdvance, and review the options available for your prepaid meter.
Use the online portal or dial *120*12209*1#. Eligibility, charges and the value offered are determined through the provider's service. An advance is repayable; it is not free electricity.
Electricity advance number and USSD code
The Umhlakasi electricity advance USSD code is *120*12209*1#. Enter the complete code in your phone's dialler and follow the current prompts. Check the prepaid meter number, available offer, charges and repayment terms before confirming.
Looking for human help instead? WhatsApp or call SA Credit Clear on 011 012 5846. For online access, use the electricity customer portal.
Electricity advance online: customer portal
Open the Umhlakasi portal and follow the options currently available for your account and meter. Read the offer and provider terms before accepting. A SA Credit Clear credit report assessment is a separate service and is not required to use this access point.
Skip portal and read the guide if you prefer to review the process first.
What is a prepaid electricity advance?
An electricity advance provides prepaid electricity value that must be repaid under the offer's terms. It differs from buying electricity outright, free basic electricity and credit-report assistance. Check what you receive now and how repayment affects your next top-up before accepting.
How to get an electricity advance
- 1Choose the portal or the Umhlakasi USSD code shown above.
- 2Follow the official service prompts and check the prepaid meter number carefully.
- 3Review eligibility, electricity value, the service fee and repayment terms before confirming an offer.
- 4After a confirmed transaction, follow the token-delivery instructions and retain your reference. Check transaction history before repeating an uncertain request.
Read the amounts and service-fee information first. Do not send a PIN or one-time password to our general enquiry form.
Electricity advance amounts and service fees
Published service information lists R20, R30 and R50 options, inclusive of a R5 service fee. These are published options, not a promise that every amount is available to every customer. Check the current offer for your meter; options and charges can change.
An advance amount and the electricity value of its token are not necessarily the same. Check the fee and total repayable amount. This is not free electricity or a promise of cash into your bank account. Read how the outstanding advance is repaid.
Publication safeguard: the figures are supported by the existing SA Credit Clear page and public BluAdvance information, but the new partner portal offer was not inspected. Compare them with the approved current offer before launch.
How to repay an electricity advance
Outstanding advances can be recovered from a later eligible prepaid purchase under the provider's terms. This can reduce the electricity value received and may use that purchase to clear the balance before a new token is issued. Check the outstanding amount and supported repayment options in the current service.
For a shared meter, a deduction may relate to an advance requested by another household member. Check transaction history and seek help about an unfamiliar deduction rather than assuming it is an unrelated electricity charge.
Read the provider's Umhlakasi service terms and your specific offer. Our electricity-service terms explain SA Credit Clear's role separately from its credit report assessment.
Who can use an electricity advance?
Availability depends on provider checks, account/purchase history, outstanding advances and support for your prepaid meter or supply system. Previous use does not guarantee another offer. Check the current service rather than relying on an old municipality list. SA Credit Clear cannot promise an eligibility decision or change an offer through a general enquiry.
Electricity advance token not received or not working?
Check whether the provider confirmed the transaction. Review the reference, prepaid meter number, messages and available transaction history. Visiting this page or loading the portal is not proof that an advance was approved or a token issued.
Retrieve previous tokens through the history or token options currently offered by the portal or USSD menu. Features and menu labels can change. Avoid repeated advance requests while the status is uncertain.
For an unexpected token value, compare the offer, fee and repayment information. For a missing token or unexplained deduction, contact us about an electricity-service issue. Keep passwords, PINs and one-time codes out of general enquiries.
If the portal does not display properly, use its verified new-tab option, the USSD route or support. Do not disable browser security to make it work.
Electricity advance questions
What is the electricity advance number?+
For this Umhlakasi channel, dial *120*12209*1#. For SA Credit Clear support, WhatsApp or call 011 012 5846. These are different contact methods; see the USSD instructions above.
Can I access an electricity advance online?+
Use the online portal section when its approved access route is available. Portal access does not guarantee an offer for your meter.
Is an electricity advance free electricity?+
No. It is repayable and has applicable charges, unlike free basic electricity. Read the fees and repayment information above.
Can I take another advance before repaying?+
An outstanding advance normally needs to be cleared first. Repayment alone does not guarantee that a new request will qualify; check the provider's current offer.
Why is my electricity token smaller than expected?+
Review the disclosed fee, any outstanding amount recovered and the transaction details. Use the token-help section and query an unexplained difference.
Does it work for every prepaid meter?+
Do not assume universal coverage. Check availability for your meter in the current service or ask for help.
Will an electricity advance clear my credit record?+
No. Electricity advances and credit-record support are separate services. An advance is not a promised way to remove a listing, raise a score or obtain car or home finance.
What should I do if the portal will not open?+
Use the verified new-tab option or USSD instructions. Ask for electricity support if the issue continues; do not share passwords or one-time codes.
Help with an electricity advance
WhatsApp Umhlakasi on 087 813 4433 first, call the same number, or email info@sacreditclear.co.za. Mention Electricity Advance and briefly describe the issue. Do not send PINs, passwords, one-time codes or sensitive documents in an initial general enquiry.
We can help with website/access enquiries and direct service-specific questions to the appropriate provider process. Offers, token transactions and repayments are handled through that service. For a concern about SA Credit Clear's own work, use our complaints process.
Looking for credit-record help instead?
SA Credit Clear also offers separate credit-report assessment and credit-record support. Start with what to check in your credit report when that is your concern. Buying an assessment is not required to read this electricity page or access its portal.
